LOTSAR – Land of the Sky Association of REALTORS®
About LOTSAR
Rooted in History. Driven by Purpose. Focused on the Future.
Established in 1917, the Land of the Sky Association of REALTORS® (LOTSAR) is proud to be the oldest REALTOR® association in North Carolina, recently celebrating over a century of service. In 2014, the Asheville and Brevard Boards of REALTORS® united to form one stronger, more dynamic organization. Today, with more than 2,000 members, LOTSAR stands among the largest REALTOR® associations in the state.
We are a member-run, 501(c)(6) nonprofit dedicated to supporting real estate professionals across Buncombe, Madison, and Transylvania counties. LOTSAR members are also proud members of the North Carolina Association of REALTORS® (NCAR) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR)—two of the largest trade associations in the state and nation.
Our Mission
We foster an ethical and exceptional real estate environment for those we serve by focusing on Education, Advocacy, and Connections
LOTSAR is committed to promoting Fair Housing for all, actively upholding policies that ensure equal opportunity in housing regardless of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
We champion professionalism and integrity in real estate. LOTSAR’s Grievance and Professional Standards Committees work within the framework of the NAR Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual to provide confidential, fair, and consistent processes for resolving consumer complaints and member disputes.
Our Commitment to Fair Housing
Fair Housing is more than a legal requirement—it’s a moral obligation and a foundational value of the REALTOR® brand.
LOTSAR provides regular training, resources, and advocacy to ensure our members are informed, compliant, and proactive in supporting equal housing opportunities across our region.
We stand united in the belief that everyone deserves a place to call home.
Leadership & Governance
LOTSAR is governed by a Board of 13 volunteer Directors elected by our membership. The Board sets the strategic direction and policy for the organization. To carry out their vision, the Board appoints a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who leads our staff and manages day-to-day operations.
Visit our Leadership and Staff Directory pages to connect with our team.
A Member-Driven Culture
From professional development to advocacy, ethics, and innovation, LOTSAR exists to serve, support, and elevate our members. We are proud to be a part of your journey—and your success—in the real estate industry across Western North Carolina.
