LOTSAR has annually picked and honored one member or a couple as Volunteer(s) of the Year from the membership since 2016. They are picked from members nominations for the community service they have done during the previous year. The criteria for nomination are for volunteering for a nonprofit organization to include hours spent, funds raise, or scope of work.
The Community Relations Committee members at LOTSAR pick from the nominations annually. No members of the Community Relations Committee can be considered.
The amount of $1,000.00 is donated from LOTSAR to the charity organization of choice of the annual winner of the award.
In 2022, the committee decided to change the award name from Volunteer of the Year to The Good Neighbor Award. The new name matches the national award presented by the National Association of Realtors annually. The annual LOTSAR recipient will also be nominated for the NAR award annually.
