In July, the Land of the Sky Association of REALTORS® (LOTSAR) partnered with Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Asheville to launch the Grace in Action Fund—an initiative providing rent, mortgage, and utility assistance to families across Western North Carolina.
The need for this kind of support has never been greater. Nearly a year after Hurricane Helene, our region is still recovering. Tourism is lagging. Service jobs have disappeared. Families are scraping by, often one unexpected expense away from crisis.
Now, the Grace in Action Committee—chaired by LOTSAR members Bonnie Gilbert (Moving Mountains Property Group) and Frank Day (Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks)—is rallying support. And we’re asking for your help.
3 Ways You Can Help
1. Make an Introduction to a Potential Donor
If you know someone—an individual, business owner, or community leader—who might be interested in supporting the Grace in Action Fund, make the connection. A personal introduction to Bonnie or Frank can open the door to meaningful gifts and long-term partnerships. Your personal network is powerful; leverage it to keep WNC families housed.
2. Give What You Can and Spread the Word
Whether you donate yourself, share the campaign on social media, or talk to friends and neighbors, your voice helps amplify the mission. The more people who hear about the Grace in Action Fund, the more people we can help.
3. Join the Grace in Action Committee
If you’re ready to get hands-on, join the committee that’s making this work possible. The group meets regularly, with a manageable time commitment designed to fit into your existing schedule.
Your role may include assisting with outreach, developing donor strategies, or following up with contacts. This is a great way to stay involved, deepen your community connections, and be part of something that truly makes a difference in people’s lives.
